This community is dedicated to grandparents who are the primary caregivers of their grandchildren. In cases where the parents are not willing or able to provide adequate care for their children, grandparents may take on the role of primary caregivers. Well, I did it!! However; my stress level is still high and I feel as if I crashed from it.
Thank God for email, faxes, scanners and my will to be proactive. My dead line was a week, I was able to get all the things that I depended on myself to get however; I had to do some sweet talking to get others to fit what I needed from them in that short time line. Thank God, I have a good relationship with our family doctor's. I did have to take off 4 days of work however; I still had several therapy sessions during that time for Grandson.
The adoption sw emailed me yesterday confirming that everything was approved and it has been sent to the court for next weeks TPR hearing. I wish that the adoption would happen at the same time, I'm sure they will set that after January. That means we can't apply adoption tax for this year.
I also finally got to meet with the Alliance for Children's rights lawyer who came to an assessment I had Wednesday the same day of our home study deadline. They will now come to any meetings concerning services for gs to insure he gets what services he needs. They will also handle our adoption. They are requesting more hours on his therapies and they are requesting that he get tested for Autism.

Yes, my gs was a ward all the time. both parents are disabled with drug & acohol issues. My son has really gone over the deep end after they took gs away. The Bio mom has been put in hospital long term and has cut all ties to gs & my son. It was a clear cut adoption they knew that they were too disabled to care for gs not even looking at the other issues they have. My SW's are the ones who draged this on so long.
