She went straight for about a year and a half, then started using again. My eldest granddaughter started cutting, and we all thought it was because she missed her "mother," or because of general abandonment issues. Turns out the trigger for her cutting was Pinky's visits!!!! When Pinky started using and stopped visiting, the cutting stopped as well. We're working on that, and I hope our granddaughter can find better tools to deal with Pinky, because I'm sure she'll turn up again.
Hang in there! Pinky says we practiced tough love on her, but I think we just got sick and tired of the drama and games. Pinky isn't my bio-daughter, so I find it easier than my husband does to walk away from her and not care.
So far we've discovered that she trusts me, loves me and isn't afraid of confiding in me, isn't afraid of my reaction, etc. etc.. The reason she won't?
"I don't know." The answer she gives to just about everything.
I can't wait until we break through that "I don't know" crap. Surely there's a reason she'll talk to everyone but me...sigh.
