I've found that sharing my own similar feelings seems to help. For example, telling her that you're jealous of (whatever it is) and how you cope with it. I think if the kids know that we feel the same sorts of emotions they may be more willing to watch us and learn how to handle them.
Poor thing...
My grands do sometimes try to fight over me. 5yo GS lives with me and has for 4 years. 3yo GD has stayed with us off and on, but morstly lives with mom. It's quite a juggling act. However, in the end, I try to keep a grandma relationship with my gd,and a mom relationship with gs. I try to let the kids lead the way, share me when necessary. However, I do some stuff with him I dont with her, such as getting him in bed most nights. These 2 have the same mom, which complicates it more. Sometimes, when she slips into supermom mode, does arts and crafts, takes them to chuckie cheese, ect, I am both glad they see her love, agravated that she cant get her life together, and will no doubt now ask me for money, guilty because he will miss her more when she moves out AGAIN., and yet he seems to be a well adjusted little boy overall. I have no idea how.
