So I'm at work today and I get a call from bio dad. He's about to get an apartment and will call us when he's in to coordinate a visit. Implying that we would let the kids stay with him. He told me he's getting a job an apartment through a program and trying to get his life together. Which is fine. I also got a call from bio mom the other day. She called her mother to tell her that she has an attorney and will be taking us to court. What is wring with the system that gives bios the power to waltz in and out of kids lives. I'm all for kids knowing Thier bios and in the begging of this journey we went out if our way, for longer then anyone else would have to try to get them to a place where they could be the parents they should be. After 4 years it became apparent that they could not and now they want to fight. The kids are 6 and 4, established with school, friends family that live them.

They drive us crazy, too. Pinky has a "free" apartment for a year (where is OUR mortgage assistance?) and we refuse to allow the kids to stay there because the neighborhood is awful.

I also think that if Pinky ever took us to court we would immediately countersue to terminate her rights.

I have a strong feeling we would win.

I'm sure you would. As sure as I am that we would win. It's just the fact that we even have to waste time doing it that bothers me.

While it is true that the system helps the bios, I w/doubt that you have to worry in your case. Since the parents have done nothing to show they are responsible or want a place in the children's lives, it is unlikely they would be considered by the courts. Also, as the children grow older, the courts will listen to their wishes and place them where they have a bond and are well cared for.....you. Could your lawyer be more aggressive in responding to their attempt to take you to court? Perhaps a threat of suing them for child care expenses for the years you have cared for children? I believe that money talks with these bios.

Daisy, I agree that this is a wonderful idea.

Diana, are the bios paying CS? if not, I would be telling the courts that you want back support. That's what I did when I took my babies' bios to court for CS and custody earlier this year. My DD flipped her lid when she heard this. LOL

I did the same thing with my DS. It's been over 8 years and he's still flipping out...LOL! I have a smile because the CS comes in handy for us, it's payroll withdrawl so he has no control and after what he and his wife put us through, it's just karma.
