Grandparents Raising Children Support Group
This community is dedicated to grandparents who are the primary caregivers of their grandchildren. In cases where the parents are not willing or able to provide adequate care for their children, grandparents may take on the role of primary caregivers. Join the support group to find support, share your experience, and get advice from other members.
It has been a long time since I have posted but felt that I needed to get this out.
I do not know about you wonderful grandparents but mothers day brings great joy and upset at the same time. The joy of being a mom to my children and the stress from the bio moms that use the day as a "all about me day". I find this so upsetting due to the fact that having a child and spending little time with that child, gives you the right to have everyone change their plans so you can be acknowledged? Well, this year I have decided that I do not want this stress in my life. Why should I feel guilty and try to "work things around her" when she wants nothing to do with them until she "remembers she has kids again". (yes I am venting some)
I love my step-daughter but I need to set lines in the sand and she needs to follow them. It is about the happiness of these two little ones and the three I still have at home.
So back to Mothers day. I am going to spend the day doing what I want, not answering the phone to those that cause me stress, not responding to text messages and spend the day with those that bring me joy and happiness. I wish for all of you to have a wonderful day and remember that without us, these little ones would have nobody. I love the statement that the judge said to me when I took custody of the littlest one. He said "thank you so much for loving these little ones, changing your life for them, protecting them and doing everything you do". I wanted to hug this man but thought it might not be right. But I want you all to know that there are people out there that are thankful and appreciate all we do.
So hugs and warm positive thoughts to all of you and I hope you all have a blessed day...

I was recently told hat my granchildren's bio dad wants to see them after 6 months of ignoring them. I hope when the kids see him he's showered, wearing cleaning clothes, brushed his teeth and is not high as a kite. I do care about my son-in-law and understand he's had a horrible childhood and yes he even loves his children but I'd like to see some improvement. You can't just say you love your children and then not showing up for visits and then disappear from their lives. It's not fair to my grandchildren. They have been hurt by all this
