Gout is a form of arthritis caused by the accumulation of uric acid crystals in joints. It is an intensely painful disease, which in most cases affects only one joint (monoarthritis), most commonly the big toe. The classic picture is of excruciating and sudden pain, swelling, redness, warmness and stiffness in the joint. Low-grade fever may also be present.
Or that is how I remember it and sure enough the pain goes away the same time the stomach symptoms come.
It has - thank goodness - been a few years now since I had my last acute attack.
not sure what to do now.
O'douls, shrimp, hotdogs are the worst foods for my gout, however those are my weakness. I have learned how to control my intake and have been doing well so far. Before this I would have an attack monthly and each attack lasting for about three weeks. As for colchicin, it took my body years to be able to take it and have no ill affects from it.
