Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) is defined as chronic symptoms or mucosal damage produced by the abnormal reflux of gastric contents into the esophagus. For the past few months I have had a lot of upper abdomen pain, bloating, and heartburn. It doesn't matter what I eat. I used to really love coffee, but it really gives me heartburn now. I had an ultrasound of my stomach and it showed a cyst between my spleen and liver, which the doctor says would not cause the pain I am experiencing.
Here is another symptom. While I do not throw up, I am nauseous quite often. I had a cat scan last week where I drank the barium smoothie and will get those results this week.
The burning of the heartburn, the hardness of my stomach, and the constant discomfort is really bothering me. Any suggestions for further testing, or if this even sounds like GERD or any other gastrointestinal illness? I don't want to keep letting this go, but the doctors are really taking their time on this!

It sounds like gastritis with your heartburn. They can come together. The inflammation in the esophagus moves into the top of the stomach as well.
I know it feels lousy. Gastritis is worse than heartburn!

Zantac works quite well for gastritis if you havent had it for years etc..
