GERD & Heartburn Support Group
Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) is defined as chronic symptoms or mucosal damage produced by the abnormal reflux of gastric contents into the esophagus. This is commonly due to transient or permanent changes in the barrier between the esophagus and the stomach. If you are afflicted with GERD or heartburn, join the group and find support.
I thought I'd hit upon a real "cure", taking Pepzin GI and DGL Licorice made me feel fantastic - for two weeks I felt like a new man. Was over the moon... then I got cocky and went into the bad food and alcohol route - just for a few days to celebrate a birthday.
I now feel like I've gone back in time six months. :(
Just get yourself back on track. Stay determined. After a year or so of no symptoms then you can treat yourself carefully.
It just gets better if you stick to all the rules for a good year.
Then you can carefully expand the diet in a greater way.
The esophagus needs to be free from acid for at least 6 months. The stomach takes much longer to heal. You can still have an issue after 2 years of being very good with diet. I am not sure the stomach ever gets totally healed but you can get close.
Just stay disciplined for a long time. That is the way to do this.
It can get way better. Hang in there! It took me a year and a half and now I can eat way more foods and not have an issue.
There is hope!
Any help appreciated guys.
