This is commonly due to transient or permanent changes in the barrier between the esophagus and the stomach. If you are afflicted with GERD or heartburn, join the group and find support.
I'm sorry to hear of your stomach pain. What kind of pain is it? Is it like a cramping pain or more like someone punched you in the stomach. I get a lot of burning pain. I've only had a few stomach aches and it always feels like someone punched me in the gut. I hope you feel better tonight. I would only eat bland food for a while to get it under control! God Bless!
Vicki.
This whole issue can be worrisone but If you have gastritis as well as heartburn even on the meds you can still have symptoms, especially if you eat the stuff that isnt good for the acid issue. They still tell you to stay away from most of the foods on the list that give you burning while on meds.
I have never taken prilosec but PPI's come with with a bunch of side effects and the stomach pain may be one of them as well.
Good luck with he bland diet. I bet you will feel better when you get back to that.
Sweethonesty, you are on a pretty high dosage. My husband was on a similar dosage and developed high bilirubin levels after a month or so of this dosage. I encourage you to ask your doctor about the side effects and risks of this medicine. And I wouldn't just consider his opinion, do lots of research on your own.
