I haven't posted anything yet but I'm to the point where I need to look for some support today. I'm on my way for an ultra sound of my abdomen. I've had chronic gerd for over 10 years and in the last couple of years it's worse. I was on on Nexium 40 mg so my doctor said to add another 40 mg at night, that seemed to work for awhile but in the last few months it's stopped working as well.
I've had two windows come up positive on my colon cancer test kid, had the follow up colonoscopy with a normal result. Since I've had my gastroscopy scope two years ago, they are recommending another one again. I've had some long running anemia that seems to be getting worse. Something strange that I'm not sure is related or unrelated, is that I have bloating that's new and bladder pressure, so I run to the bathroom a lot, that's why I'm dreading today btw..it's hell holding liquid for an ultrasound but I'll do it.
I know I've broken a cardinal rule "thou shalt not google" but of course I do that. Most of my problems seem to be related to possible stomach cancer, but of course I won't know that until every test is done and looked at. I know I shouldn't worry until I know for sure, but having reflux and constant inflammation in the stomach is not a good thing to have. I suppose if I didn't have the, as yet, unexplained anemia with it, I wouldn't be as concerned. I feel a lot of pressure under my rib cage where my stomach is it once again feels like in the beginning, that I have food stuck in my throat.
Just feeling overwhelmed lately, and it doesn't help that I have general anxiety to begin with. This is all so depressing and stomach cancer has such a poor prognosis. I just have a feeling the outcome is going to be bad.

Get the scope done ASAP. You may not have anything that serious yet. It is possible it is Barretts and that can be healed but you have to do the extreme diet change for that to make it better. When you have Barretts the meds usually stop working. It also can involve the stomach. The trouble swallowing can mean Barretts as well as more serious things.
It is good you are getting totally checked out ASAP. We are lucky in Canada!
Try and change your diet in a huge way now and see how it goes. At least it will help the tummy until you find out what is going on. Eat bland and no fat and stick to all the GERD/gastritis rules and just see what comes back with the tests.
If you have Barretts it can be healed but you have to be extremely careful with diet and get scopes way more frequently.
Hang in there, You are doing all you can for it now.. Just make sure you get all your tests done as quickly as you can and get the results ASAP.
When you took the Nexxium going back 10 years were you still careful with your diet or no? Did you still have GERD symptoms while on Nexxium,, like the sublte ones.. throat clearing/mucous, hoarseness or feeling like something was stuck in your throat, sore throat? Had you had GERD symptoms for a while before you went on the Nexxium?? How often have you had scopes in the last 10 years, especially when you felt it was starting to come back again?
This will help other people as well.
