GERD & Heartburn Support Group
Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) is defined as chronic symptoms or mucosal damage produced by the abnormal reflux of gastric contents into the esophagus. This is commonly due to transient or permanent changes in the barrier between the esophagus and the stomach. If you are afflicted with GERD or heartburn, join the group and find support.
I know eating papaya is a good no reflux food.
Would you say you have mild, moderate or bad reflux?
I would say my acid reflux is moderate. I've had it for years but the last year has been the worst. I have not had to go to a G.i. Doctor about it till this year. It is the worst after dinner.
That IS interesting. No one has ever said anything about papaya supplements before. Have you been diagnosed with GERD? Are you mainly careful with your diet all the time or no?
What brand did you buy?
I rarely have heartburn now but overnight can be an issue for me if I am not careful. So I tend to use a wedge. I would consider trying the papaya. You dont have heartburn while sleeping at all?
Thanks Lesley
also when you see the GI.... Make sure you get a scope done to check the esophagus.
The brand of papaya is American Health. I have had a scope done and it came out that I have Barrett's Esophagus. I have noticed that my GERD is getting worst even with the papaya. I sleep with the wedge between my mattress and box spring and I sleep throughout the night. This is so frustrating! The docs are no help. They don't want to do the surgery for hiatal hernia, and let you suffer. Thanks for letting me vent.
Poor you. It is good you had the scope done and know you have barretts. I know 2 people on this site that have experience with this. prayinglots husband had barretts as well I think. You do have to be really careful with this problem. I think you need the other wedge that is 12 inches high and 30 inches long for Barretts. It sits on top of your mattress. YOu have to change your diet in a big way to manage this if the PPIs and papaya dont work well. Maybe prayinglots will respond to this. If not I would pmessage her. It is rare to get esophageal cancer but her husband did. She has some great advice on this issue. She knows a lot.
Where in the world are you? Do you have a teaching hospital near you? I would get a second opinion. How big is your HH?
If you do a new post about finding out you have Barretts and need help. prayinglots will respond to it. She may not read this one about papaya.
Dont be laid back about this issue. You have to be proactive,OK? get some help from people on this site who have had barretts or the esophageal cancer site. I think most of them have had barretts first.
I dont want to scare you and you may never get cancer but get help now.

Papaya leaf and seeds are good for parasite cleanse. Use dried seed like you use for pepper. Put it in a pepper grinder and sprinkle on food. The palpaine in the papaya fruit is a great digestive enzyme. I use the ripe papaya for smoothie and the green papaya for soups, or shredd it for Papaya salads. Best fruit ever. Papaya roots is use for cancer treatment. Best fruit ever.
