How long have you had gastritis? I also get nausea, i have gastritis and GERD. when I get nauseous I chew some gum or eat a piece of bread or crackers.

Issues started the start of March this year, and hasn't gone away (there are better and worse days though...today is pretty bad). Am sorry you suffer from both.

Mine also started in march, and still having more of the GERD issues, meds help 50/50....helped gastritis but not so sure about it helping the GERD. Ive been on protonix since march. How long have you been taking PPIs?

I have to get nausea medication from my doctor because my nausea is so frequent and awful. I hope you find an answer soon. I know how miserable you are feeling! Hugs GB

hopehappens, I was on tecta (Pantoprazole) but was still having bad nausea, so switched a couple weeks ago to prevacid. Seems better but still having some bad days. Is the protonix helping you? I also take zantac (and am now up to taking it 2x a day, the extra strength). Hope you feel better too!

grammybear, which one? My GI gave me ondansetron, but it only helps if the nausea is very slight (which then, I won't necessarily take it)

The protonix seems to be helping as far as the stomach pain goes, but the acidy mouth is still there, I can't seem to get rid of that, no burning pain, just the taste. I took zantac before and that seemed to give me nausea....so I stopped it. Now I take pepcid if I need a little something more.

I know the 4th of July menus will be hard for all of us to resist:( hope we can all do well...have a great holiday:)

Hey guys Dustin here. I just joined this site & its my first post ever after my life is about back to about 90%!!!!!! I figured it out and was just like you guys (as long as your battling the same issues) I battled severe nausia, GERD!!, Acid reflux you name it i was going through Hell. For a year i would just sit up in bed with this horrible AIR BUBBLE! Horrible reflux following it everytime trying to bring it up. Stinking food just wouldnt digest(come to find out ... Its amazing when you realize that the Stomach muscles have everything to do with digestion. Thank God i ended up being refered to a guy right down the road from me who was able to get my stomach muscles working properly again!!! naturally... & Guess what! If you get your stomach muscles that push food through your body working properly again whether they were shut down from Anerexia, car wreck, wakeboarding/extreme sports(myself) or whatever could shut down the muscles. there then begins all kinds of horrible issues. Acid reflux, nausia, gerd etc etc . I am extremely busy as i am a business owner so if you would please send me an email at stomachmusclesareeverything@gmail.com i would love to speak with you and see if i cant direct you in the right direction.

Well, I spoke to my GP and we're upping the PPI to 2x a day. So let's see if it helps. Am probably just extra bad over a weekend celebration but would love to feel "normal" again.

Lu i gotcha ok this is much easier to explain on the phone so if you would please email me your phone number i will call you because this is a little confusing. Here is the deal. for my self exactly what happened to me was I rode extreme wake boarding(Similar to surfing,snowboarding etc) Im 23 years old and managed to shut down over 60 muscles in my body so far that have been worked on. Quite a few of these muscles ended up being to do with the vagus nerve (look up gastroperesis) When these muscles aren't working properly and you eat something no matter what it is! Especially 4th of july foods your stomach muscles that are supposed to push that food through your digestive system don't do so properly therefore your body seems to produce a whole lot of acid (for me if i didn't have some food in my stomach i still had gerd and acid reflux etc) If your body is constantly trying to digest and you can't well then there would make sense these horrible bubbles and the wish that you could just belch!! but no thats not going to happen. I ended up going to a chiropractor (THIS IS before i ended up with my digestive health spinning out of whack. I had always had pretty bad heart burn a little acid reflux and what not but this is where my life went down hill) after getting in with the chiropractor he actually sent more of my muscles in my body into shut down ( because when you're brain knows you about to tear a muscle it will shut it down to protect it and form muscle knotting around it) Well..... this had already happened through trauma during wake boarding. so from head to toe my body was shut down and the muscles that surround the muscles that get shut down have to compensate so i was in pretty bad pain before going into the chiropractor but when i left after 1 week of going my body was so messed up it was ridiculous my muscles to do with digestion and been sent into shut down (I HAD NEVER BEEN TO A CHIROPRACTOR BEFORE THIS) After a week i had developed horrible gerd, always had nausea before but it got out of control after this, for me to the point of lean over and vomit due to the amount of acid in my body and of course the horrific heart burn. My cousin then referred me to a different chiropractor because he had had a car accident and assured me they would do x rays. so i went and long story short went through some stuff with him that wouldnt help (DUE TO MY MUSCLES LOCKED DOWN! the body won't let the rest come into line if every things locked up and holding) HE told me that he thought it could be muscular and sent me next door to a guy in the same building that was booked for a month and a half. Turns out he is the only Dr of chiropractic in texas that does this type of muscle work. But guess what people i believe it was a God thing because i know how you guys feel i felt the same way but will share what i found.This guy smiled and knew what i was going through! Finally hope!! To date my digestion system is id say about 90% everything (LESS BUBBLES LU!!) I didn't plan on going that deep but will respond to you if you will send me your phone number Lu. I take Promethazine (Phenergan) for nausea. It works great. Mind you, it will make you tired. Some times I only take a half a pill if it's during the day.

lu2013 be careful about the double dose of PPI. Has your doctor explained the side effects, or is this a more short term fix? My husband was advised by his GI to take 2 x a day and his bilirubin levels were high. No doc could explain the high levels, but we looked up the PPI side effects and it was listed. He went down to 1x a day and his bilirubin dropped. He was only taking the two times a day for about 6 weeks.

Heretohelp, sorry you've had to go through all that. Good that you've found some help. For me, I won't touch a chiropractor as I have joint issues with super sensitive nerves.

Rene, maybe I should talk to my GI about trying another nausea med. The one I take says it can cause drowsiness, but it doesn't effect me.

prayinglots, I have upped the PPI to 2x a day for only a week. Then will go back to 1x a day. My GP also mentioned a new PPI that apparently has a timed release, so 1 pill but will give a dose later...or something. What are bilirubin levels?

I have to take a medication for my nausea it gets so bad. It's called Compazine. I don't use it every day but at least I have it when the nausea gets more then I can handle. Hugs GB
