GERD & Heartburn Support Group
Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) is defined as chronic symptoms or mucosal damage produced by the abnormal reflux of gastric contents into the esophagus. This is commonly due to transient or permanent changes in the barrier between the esophagus and the stomach. If you are afflicted with GERD or heartburn, join the group and find support.
So far it's working pretty well for me. I was taking Nexium twice a day, but my insurance wouldn't pay for it, and I couldn't afford the price anymore. I then went and tried all the alternatives, so I could convince my insurance to pay for Nexium. I tried Protonix, Aciphex, Zegerid, and Omeprazole (Prilosec). Nothing worked well, so I changed back to Nexium, and found Nexium didn't work for me anymore, sigh.
Then I found out Kapidex was coming out, finally. It works ok for me-- better than Nexium. It's a time-released pill, so I feel the same most of the day. I like that. I was taking two Prilosec before every meal, and sometimes extra at bedtime. Time release is definitely better.
BTW, I have GERD and Nutcracker Esophagus. I'd be interested in talking with anyone else who has Nutcracker Esophagus. My doctors tell me they have many patients with Nutcracker Esophagus, and friends tell me they have relatives with NE, but I haven't had the chance to talk to anyone else with my problem.
