GERD & Heartburn Support Group
Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) is defined as chronic symptoms or mucosal damage produced by the abnormal reflux of gastric contents into the esophagus. This is commonly due to transient or permanent changes in the barrier between the esophagus and the stomach. If you are afflicted with GERD or heartburn, join the group and find support.
Meat is hard to digest and fat increases my acid/GERD symptoms, so I depend on oatmeal with milk every morning to fill me up and keep me regular. One week I went on a bread and water diet, and ended it when I started having the worst GERD of my life. I still can't explain that.
Anyway, your symptoms sound much worse than mine are at this time. I hope they are able to help you when you get the exam this month. A few years ago, mine were worse than now, and a doctor prescibed esomeprazole with barely an exam. It was helpful, but expensive. I took it for six months while changing my diet from heavy, greasy food to lighter fare, like legumes, soup and fish. I quit the drug once I started feeling better. None of this may be relevant to you, but due to the quantities of drugs that you are taking with no relief, I wonder if you might be on the wrong course of treatment. You might want to try cimetadine, but I would recommend using only one drug at a time unless you have a doctor's supervision. Try them in rotation to see if anything will work alone.
If you can tolerate lactose, you could also try eating some "live" or "active" culture yogurt. The calcium and live cultures can soothe the esophagus and stomach lining.
