GERD & Heartburn Support Group
Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) is defined as chronic symptoms or mucosal damage produced by the abnormal reflux of gastric contents into the esophagus. This is commonly due to transient or permanent changes in the barrier between the esophagus and the stomach. If you are afflicted with GERD or heartburn, join the group and find support.
Sometimes it can feel like stabbing pain, because I also have IBS in my lower stomach area, in my intestines etc.....that if my stomach is affected really bad, I can't stand up at all and am bent over. This pain is like someone has stabbed in with a knife.
I then have the pain of acid overload, that gets into all my muscles and even my face and mouth etc....in my eyes, they sting, and it feels like I am on fire, like a volcano and am about to explode.
I can have the esphegus pain, that causes me to burp and belch, when it is bad, it can be violently, or just at normal times, loudly but it feels better after I have this etc... .
At times the pain can get into my chest and be like I am having a heart attack, when I am not. And when it is in my chest it can either be like sharp pain, or like discomfort and being uncomfortable and will not stay in the same place. At times it causes nerve pain that also affects the middle of my back and then shoulders etc....or it can be under my breasts that uncomfortable feeling.
And this last experience of which I am getting over, I had my stomach bloat up, my esphegus was swollen and my chest hurt, along with throat etc....and it was a pain that felt my whole digestive system was stretched to the max.
And when people have touched my stomach, like doctors when it is sore, it makes me jump, and so having an examination for me can hurt, I also am extremely sensitive and my other disabilities can amplify the pain and symptoms....at times that it can appear worse than what it normally is. Which is at times hard to get any sort of treatment etc...or help.
but I find it can dissipate, but it is always there, like having a monster in your closet. But I found out the monster can be made friends with. I can have this anywhere from momentarily, to months, years etc....
Hope this helps....
Peaceful Co.
