I had one last August, and aside from the fact that I almost died from complications, it seemed to work......until now. I recently had some more acid reflux and had another scope, which revealed that my wrap is coming undone. Ugh. Good luck.

If you have it, be sure to have someone check on you while you're recovering at home. I thought I was fine until my friend found me after I was passed out on the brink of death from complications for a few days.

Going in Monday am. All 3 doctors say this is the procedure I have to have done. I hope just take care of the problem the gerd has been a mess and nothing is working. They say if i don't do this now then the risk of the cancer coming back to to greater. Will let you know how it goes.

Good luck. Are they going to take a biopsy while they are there?

I have had a Nissen Fundoplication. It is exactly 1year and 3 months.
I am doing well. No GERD. I was not able to eat much for a month or so after the surgery and my Dr. kept saying: Small Sips, small bites.
I have to watch my eating. I always want to eat too fast and then I get scared that my acid reflux may return (but it has not).
Yes, I had complications, however I had a massive H-Hernia and the surgery took longer than anticipated. I was not a candidate for the simpler operation where they do it with a Scope Transorally.
I have never regretted having had the Surgery.
Wish you all the best. Don't get discouraged if recovery takes a little longer than anticipated. Hope you keep writing in. Lara

I'm July 4th, I'm now at home. They tell me it will get better but right now, I wonder why I'd did this. Thank you to everyone I will keep posted.

Hang in there John! It is good to hear you are home. I hope the surgery helps with your symptoms and that you have a speedy recovery!

Did all of you have the esophageal manomytry test before your procedure? I have gerd but my test said my LES is working correctly. Meds are not giving me enough relief.

Yes, I had 2 stomach emptying tests, a manometry, and a 24h PH test. The manometry was incredibly painful and revealed that my LES was weak but that my swallowing was good. After my PH test, my surgeon couldn't wait to get me into the operating room. My score was 139.

Hi all. I'm now 30 days out. Cordellia Rose it is slowing getting better. I can now get white fish down. the pain is a lot better now. I have lost 30lbs, and by the end of the day all I want to do is go to bed. I did have a nurse check in on me ( it's good to have neighbors that are RNs. I had some bleeding) They did a test yesterday and I have no leaks.

That's great. Yeah, a lot of people I "met" in online Fundoplication groups were really bossy and judgmental. They freaked out and started lecturing me every time I ate something new that they didn't approve of. They didn't care that I knew my body. They said I shouldn't try to eat anything for a long time after the surgery. Well, it happened that a couple of months after my surgery, I was able to eat anything I wanted. I left that group.

I'm SO GLAD you had someone check on you. I forgot to mention that after my surgery, I ended up passed out on my bed for a few days until my friend worried and came and checked on me. It turned out I was on the brink of death from liver failure, which was probably caused by a blood clot. If he hadn't checked on me, I would have died for sure.

Thanks for the update. I'm glad to know you're doing well. Keep it up, and remember, when it comes to your body, you are the boss. Don't listen to anyone who tries to tell you that you don't know your body.
