GERD & Heartburn Support Group
Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) is defined as chronic symptoms or mucosal damage produced by the abnormal reflux of gastric contents into the esophagus. This is commonly due to transient or permanent changes in the barrier between the esophagus and the stomach. If you are afflicted with GERD or heartburn, join the group and find support.
It takes months of a very plain diet to heal the esophagus. Pork is on the no list and so are most meats except plain chicken.
If you havent had heartburn for very long it is way easier to heal the esophagus. The longer you have heartburn and reflux the harder it is to heal the esophagus and then it can become damaged.
Everytime you get heartburn again you take a step backward.
It takes a year of discipline and hard work to heal the area and greatly reduce the chances of getting heartburn again.
Get back to eating very plain food for months. If you have gastritis as well then you want to try and get rid of this as soon as you can. Gastritis is very hard to heal and heartburn and gastritis often come together.
Dont allow yourself to have regular heartburn or gastritis anymore. Gastritis can become chronic very quickly. Healing the esophagus is easier to do. The lining is more forgiving. The stomach is not so forgiving.
Do the hard work now.
