I'm a 55yr. old female with GERD. About 3wks ago just out of the blue i started having really bad indigestion. My indigestion isnt like heartburn but hurts right above my belly button. I was having naseua as well and also something i have never had,,my throat was doing some weird stuff. I went to my Gastro dr and he did an EDG which showed some acid reflux but everything else was fine. I continued to feel alll this. I then went to my ENT who did a scope to look at my vocal cords and said everything looked fine. After i saw him i also had an appt. with my asthma dr. It was just strange that i had started a new steriod inhaler about a month ago and now all this was happening. We ruled out that this medication cause indigestion but it could cause throat spasms. So i went back to my old steroid meds. I'm still having problems and it has depressed me to no end. The naseaua is causing me to not want to eat and that feeling my stomach will not go away. My dr. also ran a hidascan to see if it was gallbladder. It came back fine. Has anyone ever had this kind of problem? I do have another test where i fast overnite and i have to eat like grits and they see how it empties into my stomach. Can anyone think what other exams i need? I've had upper GI as well. This is so crazy. I'm straving but yet the weird feeling in my throat and the nasuea is keeping me from eating what i want. I take Nexium. Zantac and carafate. Someone told me that Proton Pumps can be bad for you yet i have been on it for years. Sometimes i hope that the new asthma meds was the problem but i've stopped it and i still am sick. I have just about reached my end it has depressed me so much. Any ideas or help would be so appreciated.

Did the Gi doc look down your throat with a camera and take any pictures or biopsy's? I was diagnosed with Barrett's Esophagus and I get very strange symptoms. I get a sore throat that also becomes scratchy. the scariest effect that I get is when I have trouble swallowing. Not just when I'm eating but just swallowing in general. When I first went to the GI Specialist, I went due to a stomach ache. I didn't have any acid reflux of any kind. Not until almost a year later and then it was 3 or 4 times. However, after he looked down my throat and took a biopsy, he said I had Barrett's Esophagus which is the last before cancer. He also found a hiatal hernia and an ulcer that was supposedly cleared up with antibiotics. He also found diverticulitis. That is a lot of things to find and your doctor found nothing? Red Flag... I would get a second opinion if you can. Oh, I also lose my voice a lot. And I get nauseated a lot. anytime you need to talk, just let me know, and I hope you will let me know what the second opinion shows!

You really do need to have gastro look in your stomach with scope. Endoscopy I think that is what it is. I'm sure you have made him well aware that you are still having symptoms. If he doesn't think necessary then I would definitely get another opinion. I've been through so much with my stomach. Acid reflux, diverticulitis, mild pancreatitis. My gastro did all test including colonoscopy, mri, endoscopy, scans. this was one year ago. If you ever need to talk message me. I went to the ER in April and they did a scan and found diverticulitis. I was having bad nausea and constipation. I've had diverticulitis 2 times and pain with both but different places. It was cleared with cipro. Take care and please keep in touch.

Hi I know its awful. I get so much pain and reflux. I have asthma. Well before my bad stomach I used to take my steroid inhalers and even sometimes had steroid tablets. Ive had asthma all my life and I never had stomach problems they were caused by anti-inflammatories. It sounds like its all an acid problem. Ive had my gallbladder out and that hasn,t helped my stomach problems. I also have gastritis and Im miserable most of the time because of pain. Maybe you could have the ph test to see what is coming up. Ive had it and it isn,t pleasant though.

thanks everyone. I have had an endoscopy and he didn't find anything. Just some acid reflux. And he also did the HidaScan to see if it was my Gallbladder. Nothing there either. Now i'm scheduled to do something where i fast all nite and then go and eat grits the next morning and i guess they see how it empty's into my stomach. I really don't have alot of stomach problems its just this throat thing and pain in my digestive tract and the nasesea. I HATE being naseated!! Thank you again for your response's.
