I had a baked potato Monday night; had burning stomach and chest symptoms; had a baked potato tonight and the same thing. Is this weird? Maybe because it was "dry"--no sour cream or butter and a little dry going down the pipe?
Go figure.

I don't know if this works or not, but I've heard some people recommend using fat-free salad dressings, such as Ranch, on baked potatoes. Perhaps that would help.

Maybe buy the red potatoes. I haven't heard of getting any symptoms from potatoes. Also wash before baking .

TRY EATING YUKON POTATOES OR RED POTATOES, THEY AREN'T AS DRYING AND GO DOWN MUCH EASIER. I HAVE BARRETTS DISEASE WHICH IS A STEP AWAY FROM ESOPHAGUS CANCER SO I HAVE TO REALLY WATCH WHAT I EAT. THOSE TWO POTATOES TASTE PRETTY GOOD PLAIN. AS GOOD AS THEY CAN!

watch the temperature of the potato too, I have problems if foods are too hot or too cold

I had the same thing as you did last night! (except mine wasn't on the dry side).

But an hour later, the potato said, "Let's hop up!"

The reflux was so bad a little bit of the potato manage to creep all the way up my throat and I had to spit it in the trash!

Yuck!
