Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) is defined as chronic symptoms or mucosal damage produced by the abnormal reflux of gastric contents into the esophagus. This is commonly due to transient or permanent changes in the barrier between the esophagus and the stomach. If you are afflicted with GERD or heartburn, join the group and find support.
Spicy foods can be a problem. Any thing that is going be irritating or get your digestive fluids all churned up, so don't overdo it with fatty foods. Eat smaller portions. GIve yourself three hours after you eat before you go to bed.
There is a lot of personal variation. Keep a little notebook and keep track of what you eat and how you feel afterwards.
Just bear in mind that this condition tends to be progressive, so be gentle with yourself.
