My kids are straight, however I am not. I want to say I commend you for doing this. Why did you choose LGBTQ+ kids? Do you know any LGBTQ+ people, I ask because I wonder if you can relate to a 13 or 14 y/o gay boy, or a 15 y/o lesbian. I'm not attacking you in any way, your talking about doing something I wish we could have done. The difference is that I am bi, I can sit down with a a puberty age homosexual kid, and I understand what they are going through, and how they feel. Just like you could do with a straight kid. If you know a homosexual person then you've got a leg up, you have someone that can help you work through the first few kids until you also know what's going through their mind and heart. Not being told what it is, but working with them long enough that you understand, and know yourself and that is where you want to be, because homosexual kids have a lot more hurt in their heart than straight kids, and if you can't reach them they'll be just as well off in a group home, and you'll be better off with straight kids. I think I've made my point more than once, but I talk, a lot I repeat myself several times, I try not to do it, but I trained people on jobs for 20 years and it help to repeat yourself, and now I'm can't break the habit. I will be more than happy to talk to you some, and try to help you get where you need to be to really help the kids. working with homosexual kids can really be more fulfilling than straight kids. You haven't answered, I don't know if you just haven't been back, or didn't like my response. I hope it's the former. Please understand that I am not trying to talk you out of fostering LGBTQ+ kids, just the opposite, I hope you get to work with a lot of kids. I just want you to be prepared when the kid comes home crying because everyone at school just assumes that he is gay because he if feminine. So they are calling him all kinds of names, faggot, queer, ass licker, cum dump, and stuff even worse, kids can be cruel. You could a straight kid being called names for straight kids. But, what about a young child that already hates himself because of his sexuality, and then has to hear those names all day everyday? Those names on a already damaged psyche, have a different and much worse affect, than what a straight kid goes through. Did you know that the suicide rate among young homosexual kids, is 10-20 times higher than straight kids? That is what you will be dealing with. A lot of the kids you get will be suicidal, will you know how to talk them down? If not, you can, you can talk to adult homosexual's they can help you understand the pain that child is going through. Your automatically at a disadvantages, the child will tell you that you are straight you can't understand them or what they are going through, so they will not listen to you. That's when you tell them that no you really can't understand their pain, their heart ache, but you want to, then start talking to them about what you have been told, Describe the pain as it was described to you. Let them know you have tried to understand, and would love for them to talk to you and you want them to explain what they are going through. Tell them that you love them, their sexuality does not exist, you love them just like you would love them anybody. Stress that as far as you are concerned they are just like anyone else. Yes they are homosexual, but that doesn't really matter, they still just an everyday person. You don't care who they date, you love them unconditionally, All you are worried about is them and making things so that they can be happy. Notice the trend here, everything is about them and making their life so that they can enjoy it and be happy, It doesn't matter if they date Terry, or Terri. Your are super interested in their sexuality/trans status, but when it comes to you loving them it's not even on the list, because it doesn't effect you loving them.
