... I sat down on the tiny chair. Time for the kindergarten music lesson.
"My Nana has that problem, too," said Little Miss Sweet, who was right by my knee.
"What problem is that?"
"She makes the same noise when she sits down. She goes 'Aaah!!'"
"What rhymes with duck?" prompted my colleague.
"!@#$" says Little Miss Innocent.
According to my colleague the li'l punkin then proceeds to sing-song it:
"Duck-!@#$, duck-!@#$, duck-!@#$," bobbing her head in time.
With as straight a face as possible my colleague says, "You're right, sweetheart, that DOES rhyme with duck, but we don't have a picture for that!"
"I don't think I can stop," he sighed. "I like it too much."
(This is one of those stories that's not so cute if he's 32.)
"Well, I guess I better go to work now," I said to him.
He leaned over and said, nodding his head and pointing, "it's upstairs. You go that way."
I was lining up the K class at the door. "Can you be as quiet as..." leaving a pause for some little voice to fill in "...a mouse."
What the little voice filled in with was this:
"...as two pieces of pie!"
