Right now the worst Natural Disaster is striking the eastern states of Australia.
At least four Tornadoes touched down in Bargara - near Bundaberg (think Bundaberg Rum - and Bundaberg Ginger Beer)
Parts of Bundaberg and Bargara were decimated. Flooding now worst in recorded history... since 1870s.
The Weather cell then continued down the coast hitting the hell out of the Sunshine Coast area - Maroochydore, Alexandra Headlands areas - water spouts were seen, severe damage has been done.
There are members of my immediate family living in Bundaberg that I have not been able to contact. I don't know why.
Brisbane was hit badly last night - but the flooding won't be as bad as 2011.
Gympie river level in excess of 21 metres - highest ever.
I was on Facebook, sharing the latest information from Telstra (biggest telecommunication company in Australia) letting people know that they can't get their loved ones out in the Mining Towns because the fibre cables have been damaged - no land lines, no mobile, no internet... One friend thanked me for posting the message on Facebook because she was worried she couldn't contact her husband...
I have also been putting up the latest info from the Police and Disaster Response people.
About an hour a go an American bloke sent me a private message asking how I was going.
I briefly told him what was happening - lives are being lost, flood waters are rising at an uncontrolled state - flood waters in North Bundaberg are flowing down the streets at 70 kph... and that people are moving onto their roof tops waiting for helicopters to rescue them. My sister in law still hasn't contacted me. I'm worried about her and I told him that.
I told him I had to keep going - told him to go to http://www.abc.net.au/news/abcnews24/ if he wanted to see live coverage or he could go to http://au.news.yahoo.com/full-coverage/qld-floods/a/-/article/15965804/live-coverage-queensland-flood-crisis/ he he wanted to see what has happened, if he was REALLY interested in my life and what is going on.
I then apologised and told him I couldn't respond to any more of his messages right now.
He replied with a catty response saying he'd understand if I "didn't have time for him!!!"
WTF... people are dying - he just wants to talk about his perversion about feet. Last thing I should have done a few weeks ago. :(
So, am I too selfish that I want to inform the most number of people as I can - or upset a 37 year old American?
I have already made my decision. I unfriended him and told him not to contact me again.
All he needed to do - if he has even a small amount of compassion for a fellow human being, is say: "I hope all is gong to be okay with your family and friends, I'll let you get back to it, contact me when you can. I'll watch the internet TV now"
