You're right. These people are really out of line! When people are out in public, they need to understand that they cannot just speak their mind wherever and whenever they want. Respect is key. What you need to do is be the bigger person. Act like more of an adult than these immature people are! Don't give them the satisfaction of letting them see you explode. Instead, say: "My girlfriend and I are happy together. I know not everyone understands that, but we deserve our happiness." When you talk to an adult like this, they should see that you are not a child. You are on the brink of adulthood and responding appropriately is the best thing you can do. If you fight back tooth and nail, you're giving them a reason to bother you. Act nonchalant when they make their comments. It's like dealing with a bully: if you show them on the outside that they're not getting to you, they'll eventually leave you alone and you'll begin to feel better. I hope everything works out!

The best comeback for them is (even if you're not Christian, it works), "What did Christ say was the most important thing a person could do (maybe tack on a 'to get to heaven' if you want)?"
The answer is to love your neighbor. So you're being snarky, sarcastic, getting your point across, illiciting the same reaction that you would get otherwise, and a free pass from further harrassment from that person. That's if it's the same person. If it's different people all the time, I'm sorry, but you can't just blow up in their face. That's when you just gotta be strong. If you don't snap in the near future, I commend you. I'm impressed you've made it this far
