Gender Fluid

I'm not sure where to post this so I thought here would be the best. Is there anyone else here who is gender fluid and can explain to me, in detail, what exactly it is and how to work with it. I have been majorly confused about myself for a loooong time and only recently me and my psychologist started on the conversation on my gender....issues. I was really confused because one day I would feel like a manly, straight, guy, the next I would feel like a straight,girly girl. But it gets more confusing because sometimes I would feel like a guy, but be attracted to men and visa versa. I had no idea what was wrong with me and I was very confused. I still am. My doctor did some research for me and figured out that I am gender fluid. I just don't know what to do now that I know this. Help? Sorry if this offends or does anything negative for or to anybody...

it kinda sounds like a pansexual...with transgender idenity??? I don't know it sounds fun to research I will look it up

Gender Fluid is a gender identity best described as a dynamic mix of boy and girl. A person who is Gender Fluid may always feel like a mix of the two traditional genders, but may feel more boy some days, and more girl other days. Being Gender Fluid has nothing to do with which set of genitalia one has, nor their sexual orientation.

myself feel relatively fluid as well, though I tend to move around in the in-between spaces and rarely feel entirely male or female. I tend to be more likely to feel more myself at the male end of the spectrum though, but even in that mode, I am an entirely abnormal guy (which to me is a good thing, though it doesn't make things easier in terms of other people's perceptions).

I think it is possible to come to terms with this kind of identity, but I don't think at this point it's particularly possible to be seen by society (any society, really) as whatever gender you want to be seen as. The key for me in coping with a fluid trans identity is recognizing that all in all, I can't afford for it to matter to me that much what other people see when they look at me because they will never see in me what I see. Certain people I am close to come close to seeing me as I see myself, and I try to take solace in that. I hope you can become more comfortable talking to your closest friends, especially as they seem like supportive people from what you've said, and knowing that they know more about who you see yourself as might take away some of the panic.

Of course, this is all easier said than done. Just take it one step at a time, and know that you aren't the only person who feels this way. Wed Jul 04, 2007 10:51 pm
