To be honest, I haven't come out to my parents yet. I'm still trying to figure myself out, which is half of the reason why. Anyway, I have told a few close friends and my older sister that I'm bi and they're generally cool with it. I plan on telling my parents when I'm a bit older and when I feel totally ready. So, just take it slow. You don't need to rush in telling you're dad what you're feeling right now. You'll know when you feel like it's the right time to come out, even if it takes a few years.

my parents split up a few years ago and when they did my dad kinda went completely out of my life. so i was really scared to come out to him for a long time, but when i did he was really cool about it. Cant say the same about my mom though... she's quite a bit harder to deal with. i often wish she hadn't found out because its put a real strain on our relationship. sometimes i think she's about ready to kick me out...
i just try and take it one day at a time and not let her bring me down :)

I really do believe you wouldn't stop loving you sweetie. You know? Most parents struggle not with the fact that their kids are guy but with the thought that they may have done something wrong. So the bitterness that most kids get is actually a parenting self-punishment. Those parents still love their kids, the thing is, they have to get use to the idea, that simple. Now, telling him or not is just a matter of necessity or wanting. Do you want to tell him? Yes, then do it. No? Okay then, you need to tell him? Yes, then do it. No? Give it time. Sometimes if you can let him process without being with him everyday, it's better. I mean, your 16, probably if you tell him he'll change the rules and "no girls upstairs" and all that kind of stuff. I really do think it's up to you. Think why do you want/need to tell him and decide if it can wait or not. Now, if what's stopping you is actually the fear of losing his love, sweetie, don't go there :) My mother was the hard one, the first thing she said to me was that I was going to be a handicap and now she even asks if I find the girl on the tv cute. I won't lie, it may be hard for him at first (and it may vary from weeks to months or years) but eventually he'll come around.

When I told my parents I had no idea what to expect, because I knew they would have had no idea cit was coming. However, they were amazingly supportive and reassuring. My brother, though, isn't always very understanding about these things, so I haven't told him yet. I might not ever tell him. I think it depends on the person, if they have been there for you, and you feel comfortable with yourself ( and them) enough to come out to them, then by all means do it! If they aren't usually supportive of what you've been doing with your life, then I think there is no need to. Hope I helped!

I came out to my mom but she already knew I was gay. She told me she's always kind of known and my dad just told me he loves me no matter what I choose. My grandma whom I've told recently actually thinks I have a friend that is putting thoughts in my head and I'm confused.
Honestly, you shouldn't worry about coming out to your dad right now. IF he really is that bad then maybe it's better to not say anything until you are moving out or just have a big enough support group. Don't make your life miserable by coming out and then having it backlash big time. Pretty much unless you deem it absolutely necessary then don't worry about it right now. Give it time there's no rush to these things.

I am also scared to come out because of my family values and how wrong they feel it is.My option is for me to come out when I am 18 so if they do hate me i can actualy leave and start over.I will have to do this because one time I brought up the topic and was slapped.My option is to come out when your an adult because it is better late than never.

First off, I LOVE your screen name- Paramore's my favorite band :) I'm kinda in the same boat too. I've come out to my mom, brother and sister but I haven't come out to my dad. He's kinda homophobic, he wouldn't let me watch Ellen DeGeneres when I was younger just cause she was gay. All of my experiences coming out to friends and family have been positive. They've all been super supportive. I don't know how my dad would take it, so I've yet to tell him. But, like my brother told me when I came out to him, the people that truly love you aren't gonna care. It's not gonna matter as much to them. Because they love you unconditionally.
