What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? 35 Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? 36 (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”[a]) 37 No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[b] neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. Rom. 8:31 -39.
You're not alone in feeling shame and distant. But, i would say that we are more than our sexuality. We are more...so much more. I will be praying for you. Remember, you're not alone; i for one am right there too.

Well said. I agree. I believe that we are more than our sexuality it shouldn't define who we are. We that believe in God should consider ourselves children of God. There is now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. As a born again believer we are made new in Christ a new creation. I think that sometimes we get a twisted view and understanding of what it means to be a Christian. There are so many religious doctrines and theologies. There are some things that I agree with in traditional Christianity and some things that I don't. I try to eat healthy and balanced but I don't follow a kosher diet even though I grew up eating a kosher diet. I was raised Seventh Day Adventist. But I was also raised pentecostal and non denominational. My Father was Seventh Day Adventist and my mom pentecostal and non denominational christian. My mother is a minister. A chaplain and pastor. It has been difficult for me being attracted to women and being the daughter of a minister. I was taught all my life that same sex relations were wrong in the sight of God. I did some research and studied world religions when I was in high school. I wanted to find out more about other religions and what other people believe. I have come to accept a variety of different religions and practices even though I still identify as Christian. I find that I share some of the Unitarian Universalist beliefs. There are things that I like about the Jewish faith, The Catholic faith, Buddhist and Indian beliefs. Although they are very different they all have beauty, peace and love and different ways of celebrating life and death. I like coexisting in harmony and peace with all people of all different faiths. I find that I can learn a lot from other religions, cultures and customs. If I find something that I believe and accept and would like to adopt into my daily living practices. I do. I meditate using imagery but I don't practice meditation that is often used in religious practices such as yoga and buddishm. I use meditation as a way of relaxation. I like to go from praise and worship into meditation. It is very powerful, meaningful and relaxing. When ever you start to feel shame and distant from God. Turn to psalm 139 and read how you are fearfully and wonderfully made and be reminded of how special you are to God. I don't believe that God wants you to feel like there is something wrong with you because you are gay. You are expressing love in a different way because it is towards someone of the same sex but you have to remember that God is love.
