Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

I've been taking Zantac 150 twice a day for over a month and it still makes me dizzy. How long before this side effects subsides?

I get sleepy from Zantac. So, it's kind of a help for me at night. Been on it for several months and I still get this reaction.

I'm taking the generic, Ranitidine...I wonder if that makes a difference. I actually took Zantac many years ago and I don't remember experiencing any side effects.

Is there a difference between the name brand vs the generic?

Littlemart, I actually tried Zantac last night and not the generic brand and it made me sleepy. Also, made me feel anxious...weird.

You may want to switch to Pepcid 20mg twice a day instead, then.

However Pepcid may be less potent in practice, so you may have to switch to 40mg twice a day. Consult your physician.

I got so light headed with Zantac I went to the ED. it didn't get better for me.

Thanks for the suggestions;I will check with my pharmacist to see if I can take Pepcid.
