Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
If you can manage turmeric and ginger they go a long way to adding interest to foods. Both are normally safe as turmeric is an anti-inflammatory and ginger calms and helps with nausea.
So for this post, i was hoping to get other's experiences on your SYMPTOMS (as I don't believe nausea is the most common one, even though it's the dominant one for me) and what you do to RECOVER....kind of like a poll.
steve, I agree and do take a probiotic daily (not sure what you mean by enzymes). I'm with you in your doctor comment. My GI, who has been great in the past when I had colitis, just kind of shrugged and left me to deal with it.
I was diagnosed with gastritis last year ( 2012 ) in August. I suffered greatly with nausea ( which i hate with a passion ) and fullness; pain and discomfort. Actually general all round feeling of being unwell. Slowly but surely with a honk of prayer and trial and error food wise I am getting better. i have more good days than bad. o yes before i forget also energy wise was a big issue. Felt tired and run down all the time. i took the natural route after trying the ppi for a month. Now i am of all meds natural or otherwise. Still taking ensure once a day though to boost energy etc. And when the dreaded nausea rears its ugly head i take ginger tablets. Lu2013 I still battle with panic issues and stressing though... may take longer to heal the psychological issues. But like Ravenfish and kie says things do get better with time. Still eat pretty much a bland diet so to speak... no tomatoes , onions etc. But manage a wrap ( with avo and cream cheese and chicken ) . Got my tea back too :) . and ever so often I will try something "new" . Hope this helps a bit.
I think the trick for me is, almost to eat to the point where I'm still hungry. If I finish a meal, where I'm full, or even just satisfied, then I pay for it with nausea. This really sucks!
seeinglight, that's good to hear that you're found a way to not rely on meds. Sounds like you're the same with the nausea. I bought some crystalized ginger from a health store, but not sure it's the same thing as sometimes it makes me feel worse. Hope the ensure helps with your energy and you continue to manage ok.
PS - Two things I refuse to give up are coffee and chocolate...but I do keep it to a minimal.
