Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

What does gastritis pain feel like?

I have a burning pinching pain that lasts for about 5 min at a time. Sometimes several times a day. Sometimes not at all and sometimes food bothers it and sometimes it doesn't. The pain is in the upper stomach below the sternum kind of midway to the belly button. The doctors said it was gastritis, but I don't have the other symptoms like nausea, just the acid reflux so I am wondering if this really is gastritis.

Could be GERD or early gastritis. Take Pepzin GI, it makes GERD go away and it is safer than TUMS.

Finish each meal with 1 capsule. Also take 1 capsule whenever the pain arises.

If I knew of Pepzin GI's existence when I was at your early stages, before I was forced on Zantac, I wouldve been cured 9 months ago.

Gastritis does not always produce nausea. I've never had nausea. The pain you describe could be gastritis. Has the doctor performed an endoscopy? This is the only way to know for sure that it is gastritis you are experiencing.

I had nausea because I developed an ulcer as result of gastritis, and the nausea was caused by acid indigestion damaging my stomach.

This is when I had to go on Zantac. Zantac made nausea go away. Hopefully this guy isn't that far gone and can do without Zantac, using just Pepzin GI.

My gastritis presented with no heartburn, no nausea. I started out feeling very distracted and lethargic. Dry heaves and vomiting began a few hours later. My first nausea presented two weeks later.

Not everyone's symptoms are going to feel the same, so a scope is definitely the only way to tell, Chatt.
