Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

However, there is an inner conflict of belief systems you will have to resolve before you get better. Because you will not start to improve until you ditch the naturopath and the associated belief system, and take a sensible course of action previously laid out to you from practical experience.
With all due respect, the question is, how long are you going to damage your stomach with ACV and Aloe Vera or whatnot and worsening your condition until you hit rock bottom and become open to necessary and overdue solutions that work.
However I have a question to you Shihonage. How come you are still in this group if you are HEALED?
I used to be where you are, in pain and disrupted in my life with fatigue, weight loss, anxiety, etc. Now I am functional. And I can eat some fun things too. That is the difference that the regimen makes.
At certain points I was nearly "healed" (I could eat Milky Way bars or Burgers with no repercussions), but made mistakes. Some could've been prevented, others had to be made because there was no other source of knowledge except by trial-and-error.
Overindulgence/cravings and premature feelings of being completely healed... deception by the stomach. Bad decision to switch to stronger H2 blocker because it was "cleaner" overall.
Some of these setbacks altered things permanently, like my increased tolerance of H2 blockers, which now make it more difficult to get back on track.
I am not done figuring things out.
"GI Revive" may very well be a great supplement. They're made by "Designs For Health", which make a supplement called "Gastromend HP", which I may have mentioned earlier. It's always near me somewhere.
Both supplements contain "PepZin GI" (zinc carnosine) which I recommended standalone, and which is a large part of their effectiveness. There's clinical evidence showing that it speeds up stomach lining recovery threefold.
However, the healing protocol consists of two parts - coating the stomach in healing agents, and limiting stomach acid, so these agents have a chance to do something.
Without the healing agents and just with acid control, healing will be slow, or stagnant. Without the acid control, given the burning symptoms you have now, the likely outcome is continued worsening of your condition.
I rarely consume anything below pH 5.
Good resources include the book 'Dropping Acid' by Jamie Koufman. Some of the recipes are unsuitable for gastritis, but the overall principle of the book explaining how acidic foods activate pepsin & also the food/drink pH lists it provides are extremely useful.
Aloe Vera is generally a no-no until the lining is fully healed because of it's acidic pH.
You need to think of you stomach like a wound - you would not pour acidic or gritty foods into a wound.
I have had gastritis for 4 years. I delayed my recovery process & wasted hundreds if not thousands of pounds seeing a highly qualified Medical Herbalist (also qualified as a Medical Doctor) & purchasing virtually every herb & supplement under the sun... still experiencing burning & further damaging my fragile stomach in the process.
Undoubtably the turning point for me was establishing a good regimen with a ppi in conjunction with a low acid diet. I live a virtually pain-free life now. I spent many months beating myself up & "wanting to get off the ppi", but now I have resigned myself to it for as long as necessary because I have to be fully functional to care for my babies. My last endoscopy showed only mild patchy gastritis & some scar tissue which is likely hypersensitive. The aftermath of H pylori does not disappear overnight.
You are aware aren't you that your sjogren's is the most likely cause of your gastritis? You're probably not ever going to get cured, but rather need to find a long-term method to manage your gastritis like I successfully have.
I appreciate your efforts. However I need to clear a few things to you.I have no H-pylori the biopsy didn't show any traces of it.Like I already mentioned before the most recent endoscopy showed mild gastritis which is not much different from your condition at the moment. The difference is I have never taken any PPIs and do not intend to take any.I will repeat that over and over again for as long as its necessary.I believe in the holistic healing. The fact you could not do this does not mean I can not.Perhaps you did not believe in your bodys own healing capabilities from the very beginning to start with.I realize nothing happens overnight. It took a couple years for my health to deteriorate so it will take another couple for it to heal.I accept it and give myself the time to heal.I know exactly where I screwed the healing process last time. After 6 weeks of my herbal/holistic treatment I felt so well(this is exactly what Shihonage is talking about the deceptive feeling )that I decided to get off my herbs and I my diet and started eating pretty much anything including habmurgers and fries in order to gain a few pounds back.My weightloss was very rapid and significant and I wanted to do something abou that.Of course now I realize how stupid of me was to act so nave and think that I was healed. As of now I have been felling great for the last 2 days(only 2 days but I praise the Lord)I have been sleeping like a baby,I regained my energy,I have no more morning chills. The only thing that is bothering me now is constipation which I believe is due to lack of fiber in my diet.I used to eat tons of fresh fruit and vegetables but now everything has to be cooked or baked which makes things complicated.
To sum up I would like to tell you to be a little bit more open minded about the treatment options. Not two human beings are the same and when it comes to healing everyone needs to find an approach that works for them. For me it is the holistic approach.I spent 2 years of my life living in China and have learnt a lot there.Believe in yourself, accept things and you will see how this unfolds for you.Negation will get you nowhere. On the other hand an open mind, love and acceptance are the keys to general well being.
Believe me - I was as pro-herbs/holistic & anti-ppi as you a couple of years ago. It's almost laughable we're having this discussion really.
Luckily I became open-minded, loving & accepting of myself enough to consider all treatment options before my gastritis became a perforated ulcer & I died.
I truly hope you get the results you're seeking. I do agree 100% when you say "...No two human beings are the same and when it comes to healing everyone needs to find an approach that works for them..."
Good luck on your beautiful & unique healing journey. Love & light.
By the way i am going to a chinese doctor too for Acupuncture and chinese herbs, and she is totally pro PPI.
Zantac was used to treat people before PPIs gained popularity, and it still can be. It carries overall less risks, part due to its "inefficiency", and part due to not directly interacting with stomach pumps, and should always be the first line of defense IMO.
