Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

Type of pain/discomfort

Hi guys,

Just a question on the type of pain. I sometimes get burning in my stomach, but lately I am also have a feeling of just general discomfort. I can't quite pinpoint it. I just feel kinda gross. Wondering if you guys just have pain.

These days I alternate between feeling normal and discomfort - kind of a fullness, like something's not quite right, but it doesn't translate to pain. I'm holding on so far.

Pain... that's still never too far away. It's either a general upper stomachache, or the worst of all - burning. the burning can be in the upper and mid right, in a very particular area, or the horrible "umbrella" pain that feels like a hot umbrella opened up all over my upper stomach. That one is a bi#ch. I hope never to experience it again.

I can stand the low-level pain, 2-3 and make it go away with a water bottle. it's the 3's and up that are horrible...

These days I mostly get a full feeling as well. Tight in the back and such.

Pain is more like behind the ribs sometimes below, these twinges or like someone stuck a hot poker in it.

I get burning rarely these days. Not terrible, more like that feeling before your stomach growls.
