I can understand how you feel. I don't even want to go for a day trip to visit family because I know we will eat out and its no fun not being able to eat what everyone else is and trying to find something on the menu. A whole vacation would be difficult. For me what works on the days we do go for day trips is to focus on the people I love and to appreciate the time we are spending together. I keep snacks in the car so I don't feel too hungry when we get to a restaurant. Its not to say that I feel totally glad about the situation. It just makes it more bearable. I hope you will enjoy your trip and your gastritis will not bother you too bad.

Glad you're "ok" eating snacks inbetween and just sitting at the restaurant. TO be honest though, that would make me miserable. I have packed some snacks (baby cookies are mild), but otherwise, will be ordering and eating with my family at each meal. It's just a matter of finding the best choice and probably maxing out (or over dosing) on the meds. I'm have packed zantac (75mg nand 150mg), nausea pills, tums and chewable pepso bismul pills on top of my PPI. But when I take all that, my stomach feels lousy too on top of the nausea. Can't win. Plus I wonder what all the meds do, but really have no choice. Just wish I could eat normal like everyone else and not have to pay for it with nausea.

If any tips of what to order....let me know.

I guess I didn't make it sound right. I meant I do eat something at the restaurant but. I don't let myself be too hungry by the time we get there so I don't feel deprived when everyone is eating yummy greasy cheesy foods and I'm eating my boring fish and veg . For snacks I eat bananas and rice crackers not rice cakes. Nabisco just came out with some good rice crackers. I think what to order is going to depend on what you can tolerate. I carry my bottle of tamari sauce in my purse so I can spice up bland food. I like to steer everyone to Japanese food because sushi and miso soup are okay for me to eat. Or Chinese because I can have white rice and stir fry with ginger veg and shrimp or chicken. If everyone wants American, Italian or the like I end up breakfast, or nd veg or chicken and veg.

Have you tried prelief?. I have found taking that does help if I eat something I know I'm going to be sorry for. Also I have figured out lactose and wheat cause symptoms for me so if I avoid them other foods don't do as much damage. I take lactaid if I want some yogurt.

Thanks ChattDana. Oh ok...I misunderstood what you meant. I carry arrowroot cookies in my purse (i.e. the plain baby cookies) and nibble on those. Ended up with ordering...just what you mentioned each night at dinner...salmon (without fancy sauces) with rice instead of French fries (even though my husband was encouraging me to order the fries...he just doesn't get what we're going through). Didn't mind it too much as I do quite enjoy fish, but I would have preferred other things too. Last night we ended up at a buffet...had tons of fried and saucy stuff I skipped, but managed to make myself a salad (dressing on the side like a dip) and took some plain broccoli and shrimp on the side. Was hard though seeing my kids and husband eat pizza, spring rolls, fried okra, pasta, veggies in sauce, etc. I will say though that I did at least enjoy dessert every night. Some days I felt lousy but I managed with the 2 PPIs and an extra strength zantac at night after the zantac (along with tums, nausea pills and pepto bismol).

As for prelief, I checked Target but they didn't have it. We did pass a Walgreens but my husband didn't want to stop for me to check as I remember it being mentioned as having it (and I didn't want to put everyone out).
