Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
For some reason if I take the PPI alone without anything in my stomach it does not take effect.
So I force drink some yogurt.
One other thing I have tried was a .25mg of Xanex to calm me down.
This helped as well... it was like my stomach calmed down and let the pain subside.
If iv learned anything it is that we all have our own individual triggers. I now keep a food diary and grade 1-10 how I feel throughout the day. It helps me highlight my errors. Iced water when I have some discomfort helps me. At the moment I'm sticking to whole foods only, no additives which is really hard and ensuring I take my lansoprazol according to the directions.
-No caffine, alchahol, fizzy drinks, sweets, high salt food high fat foods and careful on the fruit. What I would give for a pizza !
-Sit upright in the evening, don't slouch,
-eat smaller but more often,
-don't go to bed on a full tummy,
-don't excercise straight after eating,
-mostly eat what is easy to digest (needs less acid)
-steer clear of high acid foods or foods that require a lot of acid to digest.
-Dont drink when you eat, it dilutes the acid and will take longer for your food to digest.
Stay strong, chin up, be patient and disciplined... It may be a long road with no shortcuts but a worth while journey.
