Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
I take:
Slippery elm
enzymes with food
probiotics in the am
marshmallow root tea and flaxseed tea mixed at night near the bed (warm, not hot), and also during the day. I can't drink plain water, it just hurts! I need to change the ph a bit and the tea does that. I don't add anything but the herbs.
tums if things get bad, gaviscon if they get worse...
I use heat packs, a lot. All night in bed. I use the ones you put in the microwave and put it on my stomach at night before I go to sleep, sometimes I need to reheat it at 2 am. I sleep sitting mostly up on pillows most nights.
When it's too painful to sleep, personally I sit there and cry. After 2 full years... it's too much some days.
Aloe vera made me worse, too acidic I think.
I stay away from enzymes as they can be irritating from what I read.
