Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

Strange time

Hi all I went for a meal on Friday with my family and we had a carvery. I had some turkey which I thought tasted funny. I had a bit of discomfort with my stomach but it wasn't doing too bad. My husband worked early on Saturday and I stayed in bed until late as I felt tired. Soon after I got up I started to feel breathless and my chest was tightening up. It started to feel heavy. I phoned the out of hours doctors as I have asthma. By the time I got down there I had bad chest pain and could hardly breathe so a nurse told me to go to the emergency at the hospital. I went to A and E and had the usual tests,blood tests,blood pressure and heart tracing. I was put on a nebuliser and given codeine. I was later kept in overnight for observation. The pain was awful and I was given morphine 3 times in the night. I couldn't sleep for the pain. It turned out it was my asthma and costochondritis,inflammation of the ribcage. I was sent home on Sunday. Im ok but have a bit of pain. My stomach seems fine and doesn't hurt though. Its like a miracle has happened unless it comes back. Ive even had coffee. Perhaps its been healed by prayer. After over two years of suffering I hope Im finally free from it. All my tests were normal apart from the pain and asthma. My chest should get better. Im now hoping to be ok. Its amazing Thank God.

Thanks sunlovinmom I have had a lot of pain and soreness around my chest today. I don't know what pain is my chest and what is my stomach now. Are you ok? We hang on in prayer. I get fed up of pain. It makes me wonder if I was meant to go into hospital as I was helping the old ladies there,chatting and taking them to the toilet. I could think of better ways of helping people. I hope and pray I won't have to go in again or get that pain back,the doctors said it can flare up again. Its not nice inflammation wherever it is,certainly not in the stomach either.

so your gastitis is healed then? this is beyond great news. I know I'm getting better and stronger all the time but serioulsly doubt I'll ever be fully healed from this. Enjoy this time. Sorry you had to go through the chest pain scare. Is there something in the turkey that could have triggered this? I only ask as you mentioned it specifically.

Hi Cas I don't know if my stomachs healed. I do seem to be eating better. Im just hoping it doesn't flare up again. Ive had some pain today and Im not sure what it is,the stomach or chest or the both. Its all sore underneath my ribs,its hard to explain. Time will tell. I hope your stomach continues to get better.

Oh i hope we're both living totally pain free lives very soon. My gastritis gives me less grief than the IBS but every new food I try is done considering the gastritis first.
with prayer and positive energy we will be well again.

Yes, this gastritis seems very on and off, at least for me. I have, thankfully, had more 'good' days lately than bad.

I started putting an ice pack on my stomach every day for about 10 minutes, and that seems to help, also. I do credit the aloe gel I started nearly a month ago, but maybe it's also that it's been almost 6 months, and perhaps the body decided it's finally time to heal! I hope so.....
