Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
Some people will heal completely & be able to stop taking meds. Some level of dietary caution will ALWAYS be necessary to avoid the problem returning... ie, don't binge on coffee, cola & tomato sauce.
Others will make progress & improvement to a manageable level. They might need to take meds forever & have a careful diet & endure flare ups from time to time... but a happy life with gastritis causing minimal bother & pain is possible. I am this person.
Think of healing & progress as a scale... & not a final destination. You've made progress along the scale & that is GREAT news.
