Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

Hi All,

On 25^th of October, I got a chest pain on top side of my chest (Left side), ambulance came, went to hospital . . . below are the investigations they made for me.

cardiac enzyme blood test

X-Ray to check if there is any problem in lungs.

Temperature, 37

Blood suger with glucometer, it was fine.

Blood pressure, it was perfectly alright as well.

They have given me, Co-codamol tablets for 3 days. I had these tablets, but chest pain was still there.

I noticed that after my lunch time, I feel bad pain in chest, so I visited the doctor again, they have done ECG, temperature, blood Suger and blood pressure, everything was fine.

After few investigations, they thought I might have some stomach problem, so they have given me “Omeprazole” tablets, two tablets at night for 1 month.

After having Omeprazole, my chest pain was fine, but I have realised after 3^rd or 4^th day of my dose, I had a really strange headache, went to emergency again, they have given me Panadol and ibrufin and advised me to go home.

I have tried Panadol, ibrufin, cocodamol, but very bad and strange pain was constantly there. After 2,3 days I visited my GP again, he has inspected all nuero related stuff and he said I am completely fine. The tests he has recommended on this stage are:

3 month blood suger level (it was fine)

Complete Blood CP. (it was fine too), no anemia, no B12 deficiency.

When tests came fine, he has prescribed amitriptyline 25 mg and let me go home.

I tried amitriptyline 25 mg one at night for 10 days but pain didn’t go away, my daily routine life and job both were badly disturbed.

On 12 of November, I had a meeting with consultant, he has stopped my Omeprazole tablets, now I am feeling fine, look like it was side effect of Omeprazole, and My life was hell for around 14 days.

This is my 2^nd day, I am feeling much better, but my head is still rough.

He has advised Lansoprazole instead of Omeprazole.

This is my 4th month, I am using Lansoprazole, still my stomach is upset, feeling headache, burning in chest and under ribs all the times.

Can sometimes advise how long it will take to heal up this.

I had an edoscopy, the report says there is mild gastritis, in biopsy there is no sign of h.pylori anymore and cancer sysmptoms.

as my symptons are still there, doctor said if i am willing they can send me for another endoscopy, I refused it becuase on lot of forums peaple are saying reputed endocscopies are not good for health.

I had bad reactions to the h blockers like zantac, Pepcid, Tagamet, then they tried the ppi's protonix, Prilosec and the side effects were worse. I had a pain under left rib that went through to the back. all my tests were normal also. The h blockers and PPi gave me chest pain, stomach aches, nausea, neck pain shoulder pain and headaches and foggy brain. All the DRs I saw each had a different diagnosis.. told me I had GERD, gastritis, fibromyalgia, stomach spasms. The last DR I saw said I had splenic flexor syndrome. (I looked it up on the internet and it sure sounded exactly like me) He said there was no cure for it but I could manage the symptoms. I use charcoal tablets, because they worked better than beano or gas-x. I take aloe vera at night and use milk thistle in the afternoon. and a good probiotic pill with yogurt in the morning. I also do a food journal to see what foods disagree with me. mostly dairy no dairy now except for yogurt. no fried or spicy foods, grains especially wheat. I follow the SCD diet or the low fodmap diet. exercise everyday consisting of stretching in the morning and then either take a walk or do some swimming which is basically walking and threading water in the pool. I am slowly getting better.

thanks stitch, i have started yogurt now, one glass of milk in a day, no spice, no fried food, no chocolates, and no soft drinks and smoking.

i am doing 30 minutes exercise in gym, and 30 minute daily walk.

for medicines, i tried to stop PPIs, but symptoms comes again after 10 days. so i have started again, this is my rougly 4th month on PPI (lansoprazole)
