Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

Regurgitation

I've heard reflux referred to as regurgitation. This doesn't mean food actually comes back up right? Is it just acid that is "regurgitating"? I always thought regurgitation was like vomiting.

I think it can mean food or acid. In my mind it is just "something" coming up. I might be wrong though!

Ok,,

I have had lots of reflux and I have never had food come up but i can see it is possible though. it is generally like a liquid more than a solid type of experience.

I had that happen to me the other night. It was food AND stomach acid. I ate an acidy dinner and went to bed too soon. I was startled out of sleep by a very scary choking feeling. My throat burned like hell and I threw up a little. I had a HIDEOUS taste in my throat for a long time afterwards. This happens once in a while even though I am on medication. I just have to be very careful not to eat too close to bed time.

yes it means coming up as acid..it can happen anytime, but mostly wile your laying down. prop your head up with pillows or the head of your bed. They got things to prop the frame hugs!!
