Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
I have never been diagnosed with gastritis. Then I developed a psuedocyst (13 cm...very large) I had to have 2 procedures where they put stents from the cyst to the stomach or duodenum. I was on antibiotics for 1 month, then during the second procedure dr found the ulcer and then I still had to stay on the antibiotics for another month.
so..maybe nothing in my stomach when first in the hospital, all the antibiotics might be the cause. It also was also very stressful time for me.
I do have a tendency to over stuff myself at each meal. A hard habit to break, now that I have my appetite back. My diet is totally different then it was before I got pancreatitis. I now have to eat a low fat diet, started out at 25 g/day. Now I'm eating 55 grams a day. no nuts, no butter, no alcohol, no oil, no avocados, no egg yokes, no milk, little cheese. not much fun anymore to eat.
As far as the dr and aloe vera juice I'm not sure she has anything to say. She is a very young 37 yr old GI so I would think they would have educated her in more modern ideas, but when I asked about Cabbage juice, she blew me off. Said there were no real studies to prove it helps. That is the frustrating part for me.
When you see the dr, its like you are just another patient with another ulcer...take this...see me in 2 months. I want to talk and explore other options. But that's wishful thinking. But I plan to try and engage her in a deeper conversation about my health then before.
