Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
Ive suffered with gastritis on and off for a number of years, but firstly I ended up with a very bad stomach infection which hospitalised me. I was misdiagnosed which led to such a circumstance. The pain youre describing and how you are with food is very similar to what I had.
If all else fails with the gp, try calling 111 and they may advise you go to your local urgent care centre to check.
don't feel like you're wasting medical time- 111 is there for advice and where to go next if it is urgent which is sounds like it is with your eating and drinking.
in the meantime, I could advise you to lie on your right hand side, as this seems to calm pain down (years of personal experience!)
also, if you're taking any pain killers- avoid aspirin at all costs as this worsens the inflammation.
take care and feel better soon!
