Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
I pretty much have the same thing and I believe it was caused by an excessive intake of all things acidic - tomato soup, coffee, tea, grapefruit etc.
I believe how it works is even though you've cut out the aspirin (and I have cut out all those things listed above), your stomach is still irritated. So even though the source of what caused it has gone, the stomach still needs time to heal and get the inflammation down. I think of it like this- if you broke your ankle you would just rest it and it would get better. But we can't really "rest" our stomachs because we need to eat to live. The best we can do is eat blandly and cross our fingers.
I hope to one day enjoy coffee and tea and tomato soup again, so I hope that you too will be able to use aspirin again one day.

Just for the record, I think you'd want a full aspirin (and chew it) if you thought you were having a heart attack! If you are trying to be prepared, I wanted to help. Look it up to confirm.
Interesting. You know, my stomach had seemed to settle down for the most part. Then last week I experimented and took a baby aspirin. It has been hurting since. It just blows my mind. I've been having so many weird symptoms and the only thing they have found is this gastritis. Lose weight without effort, no appetite, night sweats, anxiety, aches and pains. Fatigue. I still struggle to think it can be from a stomach ache. I have lupus that has been well controlled, but I tend to think it's that, but doc doesn't think so. I hate where I am right now.
Yeah, I hate where I am also but I got rid of it several years ago and I am not prepared for it to get the better of me.
I find I am panicking far too quickly and the nights seem very long when you are sweating and anxious and then the cramps start and feeling your breathing is too quick.
My husband cooked some chicken in a sauce the other night with brown rice and green beans. I eat the chicken and beans fine but the rice was undercooked and quite hard - and because I didn't want to offend and did eat a few forkfulls then had to stop, I woke in the nite with awful heartburn and the most horrible weird pain in the right ribs which slowly moved to my side and then around to my back and into the shoulder blade, it took about an hour. Then just disappeared. Phew I won't be so polite ever again lol.
And it does not help when you have a husband who just snores his head off and does not hear you get up and go to another room just to not disturb him. !!!!!!!
We just have to keep at it.
I am finding the best thing is porridge with Soya milk with a Tumeric capsule (for inflammation) broken into it and a tsp of manuka honey (high factor) again for healing is just heaven in the morning and lasts ages. I feel I should leave my stomach alone and I personally don't have anything else until early evening, I just drink lots of warm water all day. I do that when it is at its worse.
For me my stomach seems to say thank you for not pushing me.
