Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
Not sure if I asked this before so bear with me.
I've lost a bunch of weight since this all started. I suspect it is partly from losing 6 inches of small bowel to a blockage. I just can't gain even though I am eating pretty well ( and normally ) now. At least, most of the time.
Lately I have developed varicose veins in my legs and some of them have ruptured causing some pain and large bruises. My thighs get real tight feeling and sometimes develop small knots and bruises.
My neurologist ( MS ) said this happens with weight loss and aging. She's really not much help. I am canning her next month. Does anyone thing her assessment can be right? Are these "varicose veins" dangerous? I keep wondering if there is a blood clot but don't really know what to look for or what kind of doctor takes care of that sort of thing.
I would think that less weight would actually be better for veins. My PCP offered her advice which was to use compression socks, ice, Vit B, some baby aspirin occasionally and small gently exercises. Sounds a little more like it.

Not really too sure about Varicose veins... I know plenty of people who have them...But I if it is real varicose veins, then Its a malfunction in the valve in the vein causing blood to flow the wrong way..
In terms of Clots.... if you do get a clot.. the area will be very tender to the touch normally... it should also be warm and painful.
I am sorry, but I am not a doctor... so dont take my words as gospel. I would get a second opinion.. If you give me a bit more information, I could maybe ask one of my family members who are docs.
