Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

I take Prevacid, and it definitely does work. I had very bad gastritis several years ago - from drinking too much WINE :) - I drink less wine but still take the previcid. It DOES work for me.

I've been taking prevacid for 3 years now everday but my last upper endoscopy showed that my gastritis is workin overtime and I feel it. I haven't been able to get my prescription for 2 weeks now and ewww ouch! But yeah it works great for me. I tried over the counter prilosec but man gave me major heart palps! So needless to say won't be takin them anymore! Prevacid is great but I can't drink wine anymore, only once in a great while but it's all good!

So far it works for me!

Barr62 when are you taking it? I take it a half hour before I eat in the morning and once in the afternoon.

Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I have yet to find a medication that just keeps it in check. I've been on Axid and Aciphex too

I take prevacid 30mg once a day, this after being on the prevpac. It has helped me alot as I dont feel the insane burning in my stomach that feels like someone is ripping it apart with sandpaper. Sometimes, I do get a little burn, but I am only on week 3 of 8 so we will see what the next 5 weeks have in store..I am confidant though that this will clear up, my stomach just needs time to heal. As far as helping with reflux or anything else, dont know, never had it, just the horrible burn in stomach.
