Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
I was wonder if anyone knows if you have to be off ppis for awhile before testing for h pylori. I know you do for the breath test but what if you go in for an endoscopy and they do a biopsy for it, does it matter if you have been on ppis, does it interfere with the results?
He said can continue to take ppi's if testing by endoscopy/biopsy.
However I've read loads of conflicting advice on this - some say stop ppi for endoscopy.

How are you, did you get your tests done? Hope all is well.
I found it hard the first week off the ppi, but fine now. Undecided whether to go back on (as I actually feel better off it)!
I still have some minor - moderate symptoms that I'm controlling pretty well with herbs, diet, gaviscon & ranitidine. I just don't know if it's better to try & manage staying off the ppi, or whether going back on it would speed up healing.
I'll wait for the test result & discuss with my Doctor.
