Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
Hi Everyone. I have a small ulcer and gastritis based around the exit from my stoamch into the duodenum. My doctor tells me that therefore my gastritisis is acute not chronic because it only in that place and not the whole stomach but I am not sure thats correct? Any thoughts
Question number 2 - I really don't seem to get on with PPI's. I have tried 3 brands now - Omaprazole, Esomeparzole and Pantoprazole and as soon as I take one I get a slight pain in my stomach. Does anyone else experience these symtoms?

I've had mild gastritis for the last 14 months...it's horrible condition and takes ages to go.. I also struggled big time with the PPI's but eventually got onto Nexium..20mg per day. It was after trying omeprazole,lanz and zantac...I still get the ache above my belly button (about 2 inch above)...but I also have a hiatus hernia so not sure if it's that or the gastritis!!...what symptoms do you have?...what foods do you find work or best avoided?...I am in the middle of the menopause and found out the other day that this can lead to thinning of the stomach lining!!...so may be a cause...wondering if HRT would help. Did you ever get the pain going into your back...Praying we all recover :)
