Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
Thats all I'm doing right now. Oh and I do take Zoloft. That has helped me as much as anything. Stress is a major contributing factor to gastritis.
GOOD STUFF!
Now I've got over the initial acid rebound of getting off the ppi, I actually feel better being off it (probably due to no more side effects). On the other hand, perhaps I will be slowing my healing by being off it - although I am taking Ranitidine & herbs etc. I don't know what to do!
You should do some research about low stoamch acid symptoms. You'll find they mimick gastritus almost to the T. In fact many docs think that alot of people who are intially diagnosed with acid reflux , gastritus etc etc, are actually suffering from low stomach acid. In my case I do have gastritus from over use of nasids and niacin. However when I double dose I reduce my acid just enough to create the symptoms of low acid. I discovered this by chance last year when I had a bout. I was still having stomach pain, hunger pangs and bloating. This was after 12 weeks of a double ppi daily. I decided to stop doubling and within two days all symptoms were gone. I didn't double back up till this bout hit me in Jan of this year.
