Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
It's atrocious.
Switch to Pepcid before you get used to the PPI. You will have to start with 20mg pill (OTC "maximum strength") per 12 hours, but if you start feeling burning or nausea closer to the end of that period, you will have to switch to 20mg per 8 hours (this is my current regimen; I too had an ulcer).
Pepcid is very safe and clean and thoroughly tested.
And switch from Sucralfate to PepZin GI (4 capsules a day) and Slippery Elm Bark capsules (about the same quantity). The former is a very gentle and safe Japanese invention that heals the stomach naturally, and the latter soothes inflamed areas of the stomach.

Try taking digestive enzymes right before eating:

You may have to take 2-3 times the dose on the bottle because they're relatively weak. Experiment.
This may allow your stomach to digest nutrients properly.
