Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
Yesterday I had some pain , today I have a lot of gas . I think I'm hyper aware of any little twinge or pain.
I'm so sorry you have been suffering so long . What does your doc say ?
I love coffee and haven't had a drop of it in 3 months. I wouldn't wish this misery on my worst enemy .
I see my doc on Thursday and I'm just a wreck . Just the idea of having to get weighed is stressing me out . He wanted me to try and put some weight on and stop losing but it's hard to do when you're not eating the way you were before the gastritis.
Are you on meds ? I was on nexium , now I'm on omeprazole but i don't think that's working too well either.
As far as what's triggering your pain, it's hard to say but my understanding is that you could think of gastritis as a sore or inflammation just like what you see when your skin is cut. That cut might scab over, but if that scab gets scratched at enough it'll start to peel off and hurt a good bit.
So, then, it's best to go easy on things every day. Avoid foods that cause inflammation, and try to eat 5 or 6 smaller meals per day.
As far as meds, I'm now on Prevacid prescription twice per day, plus carafate 4 times per day. That plus watching what I eat has worked well, but it took about 4 to 6 weeks (and a lot of lost weight) for it to really start working. And I have to remain careful about diet.
It may take a while to find what combination of things works for you, and then you may need to be patient for many months to have time to heal up. It also helps if the doc can give you a hint about what caused your gastritis in the first place.
i too had a bad week last week after having a great pain free xmas suffered bad cramps & diaherra up to new year started to feel well agian then yesterday helped sis in law wash her car & all the bending down i was in agony again last night like you im well & truely fed up with this now ive also had it 2 years in april bad news aswell that my doc whose been brill is leaving the practice & the 1 taking over is a waste of space cant wait to get rid of you anyhow happy new year to you this could be the year we both get rid of this once & forall
