I have been on it for a month, and it has gotten a tiny bit better, but what helps the most is very small more frequent meals... I start each day with a banana and then about a half hour later some whole wheat toast with margarine, lunch is usually fresh turkey on a whole wheat wrap, and some fresh fruit (blueberries, melon, cantaloupe) for a snack, and dinner is usually chicken or fish with steamed veges and a sweet potato.... nothing to eat after 7pm ! Feel better soon !!

Thanks for the reply. I have been on a strict diet for 2 months. Since I first got the symptoms. The pain is a stabbing pain that shoots through my chest into my back. Usually if I sit up straight or stand it goes away. This time nothing worked. Thanks again for the reply.

I am also on omeprazole.. 20mg per day, but also still having pain, mine is more aching straight after meals. How much are you on and when do you take it? anyone know if taking the meds first thing before breakfast is best?

I take a 40mg once a day. I had been taking it first thing in the morning but I have a new medication I can't take with the Omeprazole. I have to take them 4 hours apart. So I take the Omeprazole before lunch now.

I take 20 mg of omezprazole in the am before breakfast, I've heard that it can take anywheres from 8 to 12 weeks before relief kicks in...

I too was taking omeprazole for two years for terrible gastritis, until I discover zinc carnosine!! Worked sooo well,, I'm no longer taking ppi nor antacids. Check it out on amazon!! Or just google it. You'll be so glad you did! It's actually a prescription in Japan to cure ulcers. Here in the USA it's a supplement. Doctors never told me about this. I had to do lots of research to find this. So glad I did!

Sorry for the late reply, I use Swansons zinc carnosine Please read the reviews of this wonderful supplement by hundreds of users on Amazon! Healed my gastritis in 3 weeks! I've suffered for over 2 years with gastritis and all my doctors could do is give me diets, PPIs and Zantac. No more! I only use zinc carnosine and I am pain free! Shame on doctors for not learning nor sharing this information to suffering patients. I hope it helps you like it helped me. I plan to stay on this supplement for the rest of my life. I quit ppi immediately but stayed on Zantac 150mg twice a day PLUS took 2 zinc carnosines after breakfast and 2 before bed. I felt so much better after only 6 days and I'm pain free at only 3 weeks! I'm about to stop Zantac altogether. I hope this helps you as it has saved my life!
